Cindy was born and raised in Dodge, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling. She taught school in Lincoln, Nebraska for several years.
She and her husband, Mogens, are actively involved with many charitable organizations and philanthropic causes. Cindy is Honorary Co-Chairman of the Lauritzen Gardens Antique and Garden Show, Honorary Co-Chairman of Project Harmony's 20th Anniversary Gala, Circle of Red Chairman for the American Heart Association, a member of the United Way Tocqueville Women's Initiative, Completely Kids Advisory Board and CUES Advisory Board.
Cindy and Mogens have received numerous recognitions in the community including the Arthritis Foundation's Woman of the Year, Big Brothers Big Sisters Outstanding Citizen of the Year, National Conference for Community and Justice Humanitarian Award, National Multiple Sclerosis Society Hope Award, United Way of the Midlands Citizen of the Year, Omaha Symphony Dick and Mary Holland Leadership Award, Tocqueville Society Humanitarian Award and the YWCA Women of Distinction Award.
The Bays live in Omaha and have one daughter, Sarah Yale. She and her husband, Adam, have three sons, Charlie, Henry and Alexander.
